PLUNKET NURSE SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Plunket Nurse Soiety was held in the Nurses’ Room, Town Hall, on Friday, August 10. Present. Mesdames Studholme (chair). Carpenter, Emerson, Mercer, De Latour, Nathan, Ongley Sherman, Shute," Somerville, Timbs, and the secretary. The nurse reported that there are now 144 babies on the Society’s books. There are 19 new cases this month: 8 are in Tai-hape, 5 in Marton, 2 in Huntervilie, 1 in Utiku, 1 in Mangaweka, 1 at Taikorea (near Foxton), and 1 at Owhanga. One hundred and forty-four visist have been paid to homes and 142 visitors have been to the various offices: 78 adults and 64 babies. Owing to the wet weather there were fewer visitors this month. Nine letters have been received and answered; three mothers have been shown how to make, hi> manised miik. A great many of the babies are suffering from colds just now, but there is no other sickness. The mothers are now able to get sufficient fresh milk for the babies requiring it.
