ANOTHER BRITISH THRUST. GERMAN FIRST LINES CARRIED. AT ALL POINTS OF ATTACK. ON A WIDE FRONT. LONDON, August 15. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We attacked, early this morning, over a wide front, from the nprth-western outskirts of Lens to the Bois Hugo, northeastwards of Loos, We carried the German first lines of defence at all points making satisfactory progress. Eastward of Citi St. Elie, a hostile counterattack was completely crushed. Northeastward of Bixschoote out Allies gained further ground. IN THE COMMONWEALTH. AIR FLEET ERVICE INAUGURATED. MELBOURNE, this day. Mr. Cook has announced the inauguration of an air fleet service within the Commonwealth.
