AUSTRALIAN SHIPBUILDING WORK POSTPONED INDEFINITELY Received 10.5 MELBOURNE, this day Mr Hughes stated that the shipbuilding scheme was hung up indefinitely. In the House cf Representatives the Minister of Customs announced increases of import duty of 3/ a gallon on spirits, and a similar excise duty. The beer excise duty is increased by a penny a gallon. It is estimated the revenue from these sources will total £600,000, and will cover loss of revenue caused by prohibition'of luxuries. i CUTTING OUT LUXURIES. AUSTRALIA TAKES ACTION. MELBOURNE, August 10. The Hon. Jensen, announced that the importation of the following luxuries has been prohibited: Spiritous liquors, table spirits, biscuits, confectionery. eggs, fur apparel, perfumery, jewellery, and motor vehicle bodies. ALLEGED .SEDITION. MELBOURNE, Aug. 10. Prosecutions are pending against the President of the Trades Hall Council and the mover and seconder of the recent anti-recruiting motion.
