Messrs. Abraham and Williams Ltd., report for week:— At Huntervillc on Tuesday small yardings came to hand and met with a dragging sale, Prices were as follows: M/aged ewes in lamb 30/-, cull ditto 13/6, Small m/s hoggets 19/6, Spring heifers £9 To £lO, smaller ditto £8 14s. Cows with calves £lO/10/-, store bullocks £l4/10/-, fat cows £3/5/-. At Taihape on Wednesday, we had a good entry of sheep and a fair one of cattle. Prices were about on a par with last sale. We quote: M/s hoggets 25/-, small ditto 14/6 to 15/, M/aged ewes in lamb 27/-, poor ditto 22/6, 4 and 5 years ewes in lamb 24/6 to 26/-, 3 year heifers spring, £l4/15. On Thursday we held a dairy sale on account of A. T. Illston and Bartlett Bros, in the Huntervillc Sale Yards. There was a very small attendance but competition was particularly keen and everything offered sold at highly satisfactory prices. Mr. Illston’s cows sold at from £9 10s to £2O, and averaged close on to. £l4. The heifers made from £B/12/6 to £ll/10/-. Messrs. Bartlett Bros’ heifers made £9 to £lO 15s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams Ltd. report: A fairly good yarding of stock came forward at Palmerston North on the 2nd inst. Cattle were in good demand and sold readily, prices showing an improvement. Sheep were rather easy although a fair number changed hands.
Medium dairy cows brought from £lO ! 10s to £l2 10s, ordinary sorts £8 10s i to £9 17s 6d, forward cows £9 10s to ! £lO 2s 6d, fresh conditioned cows £8 8s to £8 15s, store cows £7 5s to £7 15s, boners £2 10s to £4, store cows in chlf (good) £8 10s to £9 15s, 2-year, empty heifers £5 ISs, yearling steers £5 to £6 10s, small ditto £4 to £4 Ss 6d mixed yearlings (small) £3 10s. F. M. Ewes in lamb 24/6, broken mouth ewes and lambs 23/6, forward hoggets 22/s to 22/7, store hoggets IS/G to 20/- small ditto 13/6. Messrs. 'Abraham and Williams Ltd., report: At Fielding on Friday we cfTered a fair yarding of sheep and cattle. The market for all classes was fair and we sold the bulk of our entry. The following are the quotations: Sheep.—Fat wethers 45/-, light fat wethers 35/- to 40/, fat stags 34/3, 2tooth wethers 33/10, small wethers 27/1, good hoggets, 27/6, medium hoggets 20/- to 23/8, small hoggets 18/9 to 19/6, cull hoggets 13/6. Cattle Dairy cows (fair) £8 to £9 ss, forward cows £9 7s 6d, fresh conditioned cows £8 10s to~EB 16s, store cows £7 to £7 16s, empty heifers £7 7s 6d.
