The winner, J. A. Champion, put up a good performance, and secured the best nett score in a competition this season. The ruuner-up, A. James, has been playing very consistently, and is. now well up in the average for theShergold Cup. W .V. Kelsall played: sufficiently well to secure another reduction in handicap, as did also J. A. Champion and A. James. J. Evans was in fine form and put up the goodscore of 88 off the club. This is the best competition score this season, "being considerably better than the previous best 94 put up by N*. B. Barkman. Evans is gradually getting back his best form, and later in theseason should come down to his previous best, close on SO. The junior stroke resulted:—C. OGibbs 119—30—89, J. H. Wham 122 30—92, W. H. Fookes 113—20—93 r p. OfCalpaghan 1;20 —16—104, FI J*. Hintz 126 —25 —101, G. W. Plummer 122—18—104.

The winner, C. O. Gibbs, has secured two wins in succession, in addition to playing off for one competition. The best score off the club was put ■up by W. H. Fookes, who has made his reappearance on the links after an enforced spell through illness. As a result of the competition, Gibbs, Wham, and Fookes have earned substantial reductions in handicaps, i The ladies’ strode competition resulted: —Miss Merritt 66 —20—46, Mrs Neagle 62—13—49, Mrs. O’Callaghan 68 —16—52, .Miss V. Miss Merritt secured a well-deserv-ed win, likewise a reduction in handicap of four. "With the small amount of practice obtained Miss Merritt has shown good improvement. Mrs. Neagle has shown steady play, 1 having in each of the five-matches reduced her score off the club. Miss Spooner still has the honour of being unbeaten by her opponents in scores off the club. During next week-end there will be no competition for lady players. Electric competitions for men (seniors and juniors) will be played.

for the information of players it may be stated that an electric competition is one in which the competitors each play two rounds of nine •holes and count the best score which has been made at each hole in the two rounds. The total for nine holes thus obtained forms the electric score. In the above competitions handicaps do not count, the scratch men in each class ■' will therefore on this occasion have a sporting chance of winning.

Last week’s Bray competition and this week’s electric competition are the qualifying rounds for the championship. The holders of the sixteen best cards handed in being those who will be qualified to compete for the honour of being the 1917 champion. During the week-end a party consisting of Messrs P. E. Wakeman, G, BVay, and S. Powell formed them-

selves into a fatigue party, and braved the elements to perform some much-needed repairs to the greens. Some of these have»not been rolled for some time and the labour put in fcV the above named gentlemen will be greatly appreciated by players. Beating bogey was easy work compared with the task of the toilers in getting the rollers up to No’s. 4 and 8. COMMITTEE MEETING.
