In the House of Assembly, Colonel Onslow gave notice of motion th<\t members' salaries b e reduced to £3OO. QUACKS AND VENEREAL DISEASE. SYDNEY, this day. Addressing the Health Congress, the Minister of Health stated tTiata bill would be drafted which would provide that quacks shall no longer treat venereal diseases. The delegates emphasised that the Governmnt -should demand psoof of freedom from venereal disease of all candidates for marriage. A motion was adopted urging Mr. Hughes to prohibit the sale of alcohol for the duration of the war and during the period of demobilisation. PREFERENCE TO USNONISTS. BRISBANE, this day. The Legislative Council decided, by 13 votes to 3, to amend the Arbitration Act to provide, in accordance with the agreement of both Houses, that the question of preference to unionists shall be excluded from the operations of the Act.
