THREE STAES. j There are few pictures that have the sam« claim to excellence as that fine drama "The Golden Lotus" to be shown at the Three Stars to-night only. The film is orginal in plot, and is staged and acted in a thoroughly satisfactory manner. Mile. Regina Badet, a French actress takes the leading role. Leah is a decoy at iGovanni's gambling house, but when she meets EegiiJur aid Ramsay she realises that her manuner of living is a doubtful one, and endeavours to reform. Her efforts, however, are foiled by the evil influence of her employer, who successfully schemes to keep her apart from the man she loves. Her lover disappears and whein he returns he finds Leah married to his father. The story is carried through many intensely emotional scenes, and senational happenings until Leah despairing of her lot, commits suicide, The remainder of the programme includes two laughable comedies, called "Wanted, a Piano-Tuner" an "Oh, For the Life of a Fireman," and another instalment of the official war pictures showing the British guns in action. To-morrow night that fine old Drama "The Old Folks at Home" will be shown for one night only and on Saturday "John Bull's Empire and Wonderland of New Zealand."
