“BABY MINE.”

The Town Hall was crowded last night to witness the presentation of the farce ‘-'Baby Mine” by the J. C. Williamson Co. The piece abounds witM smart and witty sayings, which at times approach dangerously close to the border-line, but goes from start to finish without faltering. Miss Beatrice Holloway, as Zoic, the irresponsible girl-wife, whose ignorance of maternity and gift of “fibbing” were astounding, acted her part perfectly and naturally, her charming and piquant personality quite captivating the audience. The artless and natural way in which she told a lie, and her. aggrieved attitude when “bowled out,” almost took away the the breath of the audience. Mr. Robert Greig, as “Jimmy Jinks,” the friend of the family, made the most of an extremely humorous character. The manner in which he endeavoured to keep “the cradle full” and situations resulting from his attempts to do so were truly ludicrous. As Alfred Hardy, the husband of Zoie, who has a penchant for babies and an abhorrence for untruths, Mr. Brampton was a huge success. Miss Yorke, Jimmy’s wife and the friend in need of Zoie, played up to her friend in a most convincing manner, and added considerably to the gaiety of the evening. The setting and scenery was quits up to the standard of the J C. Williamson productions.
