The Sun’s Rome correspondent says apparently it is certain the Pope will appeal for peace on the third anniversay of the war next month. There is good reason to believe that instead of a general exhortation to all warring nations it will be addressed to nations not technically warring, as an initial step toward negotiation with the belligerents. Such suggestion clearly alludes to the United States and Austria. Reports are reaching the Vatican that the Turkish Premier is expected to resign to make way for. a national cabinet of Liberals favouring peace. SEPARATE PEACE. WANTED BY AUSTRIA. LONDON, July 20. The “Morning Post’s” Rome correspondent states that the “Messagero” reports that secret Bulgarian emissaries have reached Switzerland with a view to sounding the Entente forwards a separate peace, with the argument that the Bulgarians are not really at war with us, hilt only with Serbia.
