DAYS OF QUICK TRAVEL.
IMPORTANT LINK BETWEEN MARTON JUNCTION AND WANGANUI.
As will be seen by advertisement in another column, Mr. J. Hodson, of Wanganui, has established a daily motor service, between Marton Junction and Wanganui, thus doing away with long hours of dreary wait at Marton Junction, owing to a curtailed railway service, passengers by (the Main Trunk express are obliged to wait at Marton Junction —a most inhospitable place at its best'—for over three hours before they can pursue their journey to Wanganui or Taranaki. Under the railway arragements it is simply impossible for any person having an hour or two's business to return the same day jy the Trunk express, for the simple reason that passengers are not lauded in Wanganui till between 3 and 4 o’clock in the afternoon, whilst the train to link up with the express leaves Wanganui at midday, about three hours before the day’s passengers arfive, This absurd time table which was never framed in the interests of the travelling public has played right into the hands of the tax! man and Air. J. Hodson of Wanganui has placet! himself, cars and staff of reliable drivers at the disposal of the public. One has only to peruse Mr Hudson 's advertisement to see the excellent sensible and most acceptable provision he has made to meet requirements. One of his fine fleet of cars meets the Auckland express going to Wellington, at Marton Junction, and instead of passengers having to wait for over three hours at Marton Junction for the New Plymouth train, those who take advantage of his service are landed in Wanganui over an hour before the other unfortunates waiting for the afternoon train, leave Marton Junction. If his passengers are business people, they can leave again by his car at 3.30 and return to Marton Junction in time to meet with the express from Wellington going north. Such a quick return, and yet giving passengers the maximum of time at the fifth largest city in New Zealand must appeal to all, and ,Mr. Hodson can rely upon getting good support from the Main Trunk. Passengers wishing to save expense should take railway tickets to Marton Junction only, and to receive seats by telegraphing Hodson. Wangar nui or Marton Junction.
