Government urged to adopt | paris resolutions. Received 8.55. LONDON, July 17. A strong movement hs,s been initiated to compel the Government to adopt the Paris resolutions in regard to air reprisals "as a policy and take action. An enthusiastic mass meeting was held in Hyde Park on Sunday, and was notably attended by many returned soldiers. BRITISH AERIAL RAIDS. GERMAN POSITIONS BADLY DAMAGED. LONDON, July 16. The Admiralty reports: Naval aeroplanes yesterday evening dropped several tons of bombs on the Solway ■works at Zeebrugge; railway junctions and sidings at Ostend; sidings and dumps at Middlekerke; the railway junction at Thourout; and motor transport convoys and railway sidings at Lichterwelde. Italian machines bombed Pola on Friday and Saturday, attacking enemy destroyers, while eighteen machines yesterday bombed Durazzo, all retreating safely.
ON THE SEA. POTJE SUBMARINES SUNK. LONDON, July 16. A report from a German source atjg mits that warships convoying the first American troops destroyed four of the largest and latest submarines. THE CAPTURED MERCHANTMAN. The High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, July 17. The Admiralty reports: On Monday a number of German merchantmen were sighted in the North Sea. Disregarding signals they made off in the direction of the Dutch coast. Two reached the shore badly damaged by gunfire. Four ethers were captured, two of the crews escaping, the others being made prisoners. . The ships -Captured were the "Pellworm," "Drietzfg," "Mariehorn" ami "Heinzblumberg." THE VANGUARD DISASTER. WAS THERE FOUL PLAY? LONDON, July 16. J The "Standard" says: ' A certain striking coincidence between the Vanguard explosion and another loss has led to a strong suspicion of foul play.
