SUBMARINE CAMPAIGN.
AMERICAN STEAMER TORPEDOED Received 11.10. WASHINGTON, July 16. The State Department announces that the American steamer Grace has been torpedoed, three being killed. GERMANY’S TORPEDO SUPPLY WEAKENING. Received 10.40. WASHINGTON, July 16. The Navy League has made a statement that it is the opinion of experts that Germany ; s supply of torpedoes is weakening, and reports that numerous ships are successfully dodging torpedoes, which indicates a deterioration of the speed and accuracy of the missies. COUNTERING SUBMARINES .AND MINES. A NEW SERVICE. , Received 10.40 a.m. NEW YOR, July 16. The New York Times’ Baltimore correspondent learned that the John Hopkins’ University electrical expert has perfected a new style of mine controller, wireless waves enabling the submarine to destroy U-boats while both were submerged. The perfection of the device is such that it locates submerged boats also.
