Blackie is deserving of his win he being a very keen and determined player who puts his heart into his sport. N. B. Barkman with 94 made the best score with the club and is evidently coming back to form. Good scores off the club were also put up by R. A. Andrews and G. Bray. Men’s Junior Stroke Competition for Mr. S. Beban’s trophy: T. Bradley 113 —16—97; C. O. Gibbs 127—30—97; G. W. Tosswill, 127—18—109; A. L. Upchurch 131—20—111; W. J. Munro 142 —28—114; F. J. Hintz This competition resulted in a tie between T. Bradley and C. O. Gibbs and will necessitate a play off. In spite of Lis weekly reduction of handicap T. Bradley persists in getting into the placed list.

The following are the positions at present of players for the Shergold Cup for Seniors:—S. Beban 75, 80, 81, average 78 2-3; W. V. Kelsall 76, 80, 82, average 79 1-3; A. James 77, 84, 81, average 80. 2-3; H. Dashwood 77, 85, 84, average 82; P. E. Wakeman 84, 81, 84 average S 3; D. Neagle 80, 86, 84 average 83 1-3; M. Kirschberg 82, 85, 84 average 83 2-3; J. Morfland 88, 81, 84 average 84 1-3; G. Bray 82, 88, 85, average 85; E. A. Andrews 82, 89, 85 851-3; H, Hesketh 89, S 3, 84 average 85 1-3. Competition for this cup promises to be very keen as the scores show and at the present stage it would be difficult to prophesy the winner. The following are the positions of the leading juniors for the Shergold plate: T Bradley 92, 110, 97, average 99 2-3; J. Murray 93, 81, 135 average 103; A. W. Gardner 110, 113, 107, average 110; A. L. Upchurch 106, 113, 111, average 110; F. J. Hintz 114, 105, 119 average 112 2-3. The chances for this competition appear to be equally divided between T, Bradley and J. Murray with the odds in the favour of the latter.

The following are the positions of the ladies for the Bond Cupr—Mrs. S. Powell 55, 49, 58 average 54; Miss M. Spooner 48, 55, 59, average 54; Mrs. D. Neagle 60, 59, 53, average 57 1-3; Miss Little 60, 65, 67, average 64; Miss Kiernan 78, 62, 05, average 68 1-3. Competition for this trophy promises to be very keen, the most likely winner being Mrs. Neagle. It was predicted in these notes after the first ladies’ stroke competition that before long, the ladies’ round would be done in under 50. Although not in the competition such was done last Saturday by Miss Spooner who finished up her round with the very creditable score of 49, including No. 7 in two. On the same afternoon Mrs. Neagle completed a round in 59 which is also creditable and show results of steady practice and attention to the details of the game. Only one lady player (Miss Spooner) has broken 00 in any of the three competitions, so it will be seen Mrs. Neagle’s score is comparatively a good one. It is hoped that these scores will be reproduced in competition play as steady improvement in the play of any player whether scratcdi or handicap players shows that the members arc taking up tke sport as it should be by real sports. It is hoped that the scores put up by our best lady or men players will always,, withstand the attacks of the best of visiting players. Next Saturday three competitions will take place, a ladies’ stroke competition for Mr. E. Loader’s trophy, a men’s senior bogey for Mr. F. Hintz’s trophy and a junior bogey for Mr. H. Hesketh’s trophy.
