WOMEN’S WORKING CLUB.
, A meeting of the Executive Comd|ptee of the Women's Working Club was held in the Club rooms on Fridayevening. Present: Mesdames Shute, Miller, Turnbull, "Boyd, Bennett, Mies Spooner, and Messrs. D. Neagle, S. Dunbar, and W. J., Munro. Apologies for absence were received from Miss Mrs. McDonald and Mr. .T. Evans, The meeting night for the Executive Committee was fixed for the future a# the second Friday of the month. Accounts amounting to £243 Os 9d were passed for .payment. A special vote of thanks was passed to Miss D. Swenson, Bennett’s Siding for the handsome addition to the club’s funds as a result of the recent dance at Bennett’s Siding from which some £25 was obtained. The names of the following were specialty mentioned for , assistance rendered in connection with the dance; —Messrs. Power and Munro (auctioneers), Hall (organiser), Anderson (M.C.), Mesdames Hall, Sinclair, Troy, Martin, and Messrs. Martin, Ormond and Chase (music) Mr. and Mrs. Brown, and Miss D. Swenson, who originated and worked very hard to make the function the undoubted success it was. It was decided also that the names of all those who contributed towards jjjfhis dance be posted in the club room window. It was decided that in future one parcel per month be sent to every soldier on the club’s books. Mesdames Miller and Turnbull were appointed a packing committee, and in future will pack all parcels, which will * afterward be sewn up by committees in charge of Mrs. Boyd (Monday), Miss Spooner (Tuesday), Mrs. McDonald, (Wednesday), Mrs. McAuliffe (Thursday) and Mrs. Bennett (Friday.) Votes of condolence were passed to Miss Kennedy, honorary secretary of the club, who has recently lost her father,* to the wife and relatives of the Ir.te Mr. W. Hckenui who did so much towards the club’s funds, and to the relatives of all soldiers who gave their lives in the recent offensive. In view of the necessity of dispatching Christmas Comforts at an early date to enable them to be received In time by the soldiers at the front it wag decided that the secretary write to the various firms ascertaining the ' prices of Christmas puddings.
