CANADIANS ATTEMPT TO LYNCH AUSTRIA NS. NEW YORK, According to advices received here via Montreal, a mob of 2000 persons of whom 700 are said to have been soldiers, took possession of the centre of Toronto last night, sweeping the police and the military guards aside. Half a dozen cafes were wrecked and all traffic was held up. The King Edward Hotel, Avas seized by a body of about 100 soldiers and others, and ransacked for alien enemies.

The cause of the trouble appears to have been an allegation that a returned soldier was insulted by three Austrians employed at Child's Restaurant The interior of this, establishment was demolished and the 'Austrian? vese on the point of being lynched when they were rescued by the police.
