A wounded Scottish soldier tells how, while he and others were going forward at dusk they stumbled into a shell hole, where they found a drummer badly wounded in the face, holding two unwounded German officers prisoners. “In the first attack,” said the soldier, “the drummer had been separated from his party, and having cornered the German officers, had, after a struggle, obtained possession of | their revolvers, and had guarded them in the shell hole for 36 hours, cTespite his wound. ‘ thought they might have some papers on them that might be useful/ he explained to the officer at the dressing-station—which proved quite correct.” v . The Prime Minister was telling members of the House last week about the interesting people he had come across during his sojourn in England. “Did you come across Malcolm Ross in your travels?” queried a member. When the laughter. had died away, Mr. Massey said he had met Mr. Ross at the front. A member: “We do not get much for our money.” Mr. Massey: “I heard from three generals that he was looked upon as one of the best war correspondents at the front.” (Loud laughter). A member: “We &re not getting much out here. Didn’t he tell us that poor Wilding was killed at Gallipoli three months after he was killed in France.” ((Loud laughter). Quality de Luxe.
