PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1908,” “The Rating Act 1908/ and “The Local Bodies Act, 1908,” and the amendments thereof respectively, and all other powers and authorities it thereunto enabling, it is the intention of the Taihape Borough Council, at a Special Meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, Town Hall, Taihape, on FRIDAY, the 27th day of JULY, 1917, at 8 p.m., to make and levy the following rates for the year J commencing on the Ist day .of APRIL, 1917, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1918: A GENERAL RATE of one penny and a farthing (IJd) in the £ on the rateable value of all rateable property within the B'orough of Taihape. A LIGHTING RATE of one-eighth of a penny (Iff) in the £ on the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Taihape. A WATER RATE, under the provisions of Section 83 of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1908” and its amendments, on all rateable property within the Taihape Water Supply Rating District, and all property outside such District situated within one hundred yarns from any part of the Waterworks. In addition to the above, the Council proposes to levy the following Special Rates for payment of Interest and Sinking Fund on the under-men-tioned loans: — Loan of £6OOO (Streets and Foot- I paths Improvement) a rate of one farthing (Jd) in the £. Loan of £2OOO (Town Hall addi-' tional), a rate of one-twenty-fourth of a penny (l/24d) in the . £. Loan of £21,250 (Waterworks Electric Light, etc.) a rate of seven eighths of a penny (|d) in the £. , Loan of £’ll3l 11s lid (Drainage Area No 1) a rate of one-eleventh of a penny (1-lld) in the £. Loan of £1034 19s lid' (Drainage Area No 2.) a rate of five-thirty-seconds of a penny (5-32 d) in the £. Loan of £3750, (Drainage Area No. 3) a rate of twenty-three-thirty-seconds of a penny (23-32 d) in the £. Loan of £2803 19s sd. (Taihape 1 Township Roads), a rate of ore-' eighth of a penny (Id) in the £. Loan of £1346 7s lid. (Otaihape I.F.S. Roads), a rate of threetwentieths of a penny (3-20 d) in the £. Loan of £4OOO (Waterworks additional), a rate of one farthing (Jd) in the £. All such rates to be payable in one instalment on the 16th day of AUGUST, 1917, at the Town Clerk’s Office, Taihape.
