BY Order-in-Council, dated the 4th July, 1917, the Second Division of the Reserve has been divided into the following classes:— Class A. —To comprise all Reservists of the Second Divsion who for the time being have no children. Class B.—To comprise all Reservists of the Second Division who for the time being have one child. Class C.—To comprise all Reservists of the Second Division who for the time being have two children. Class D.—To comprise all Reservists of the Second Divfsion who for the time being have three children. Class E. —To comprise all Reservists of the Second Division who for the time being have four children. Class F.—To comprise all Reservists of tie Second Division who for the time being have more than four children.

F,or the purposes of the classification the term "child" is used irrespectively of age, and includes a child legally adopted before the Ist May, 1915; a step-child if the Reservist married the mother of that child before the Ist May, 1915; and an illegitimate child of the Reservist if the Reservist married the mother of that child before the Ist May. 1917. A child who has been legally adopted by any other person may not be counted as a child of his natural parents. Any son of a Reservist who hasdied while a member of any of His Majesty's Miltary or Naval Forces engaged in the present war may be counted as if he had been still living. By a War Regulation dated the 4th July, 1917, every Reservist of the Second Divsion is directed within ten days after Wednesday, the 11th July, 1917, to deliver to a postal officer at any post-office, upon the printed form obtainable at any post-office, a true statement of the number of his children as on the above date. Nothing, however, in this Regulation applies to any Reservist who has already furnished to the Government Statistician, either under the National Registration Act, 1915, or the Military Service Act, 1916, sufficient information as to his children to enable that Reservist to be properly classified as on Wednesday, the 11th July, 1917. Every Reservist is required, within ten days after such change, to notify the Government Statistician by registered letter of any change that takes place in the number of his children ! after Wednesday, the 11th July, 1917. Any Reservist who fails to fulfil any of the above obligations or who makes any false representations relative to his children, is guilty of an offence, and is liable under the War Regulations Act, 1914, accordingly.
