THE HIGH COMMISSIONER.
A cablegram was published recently stating that an extension of his term of four months had been made to Sir Thomas Mackenzie, High Commissioner for Hew Zealand, in London. Judging by the following extract from the Christchurch Press ’s London correspondent ’s letter, Sir Thomas has fallen on his feet again, and will not be lookfor Government favours. Speaking at a luncheon given by the Cold Storage and Lee Association, on May 7, Mr. Andrew Fisher, High Commissioner for Australia in London, said he appreciated the confidence bestowed upon his brother Commissioner, Sir Thomas Mackenzie, by the Cold Storage and Ice Association in placing him at its head. Sir Thomas, Mr. Fisher said, was one of the few men who, after an early political career, had visited the various centres of Empire, trade to gather all the best information, and had returned to his own country end given it the fruits of his research. Sir Thomas Mackenzie had done that for New Zealand, with whose progress as an exporter hir whole heart’s interest was bound up.
