THE HIMALAYA SUNK. PARIS, July 1. The steamer Himalaya, chartered by the Messagcries-Maritimes Company, was sunk at daybreak on June 22nd. CONFUSION OVER IDENTITY. SYDNEY, July 2. The World states' that the officers of an American steamer arriving at an American port report that the British patrollers located the U-Boat base a fortnight ago. The U-Boat suppliers were shot and the oil and other supplies were confiscated It is believed the movements of Allied ships were reported by the UBoats from this base. The New York Herald 's Washington correspondent, says that at the termination of five months' unrestricted submarining, naval officers estimate the result is far short of Germany's programme of one million tons monthly. It declares the total tonnage lost during the first year does not exceed -four millions, while three millions have been constructed during the same period.

Exports from the United States to neutrals make this possible. The efforts of neutrals to lighten the expected drastic embargo is believed to be causing delay in the actual embargo.
