The Bed Cross Shop on Wednesday last was in charge of the Pukeokahu district ladies, and the display they made was decidedly good and distinctly creditable. With a practical eye to the necessities of the ordinary housewife they stocked the shop with articles of every day domestic consumption, and this no doubt accounts for the successful result of the day’s operations. Mesdames A. K. Overton, E. Gilbert and Theobald were in charge of the counter, and developed quite unexpected abilities of salesmanship. The takings totalled £27 16s Bd, a financial result of which the promoters might justly feel proud.
