A NOTABLE AUSTRALIAN.
Mention is made in recent cable news of Dr. Morrison in connection with the development of the revolt in China. As in Russia, the change from the monarchical to republican form of government was made at a remarkable minimum of disorder in China; but it is taking a long while for the nation to settle down. This, of course as in Russia again, is due to the vastness of the country an/, the many nations within the nation. Dr. Morrison, who has proved no small factor in the bloodlessness of the revolution, is an Australian by birth. He went to China as a journalist and became the chief correspondent of the London Times in Peking—one of the world's plums of the journalistic profession. When Yuan Shih Kai became the chief President of the Republic of China, Dr. Morrison was selected to act as Political Advisor to the new Cabinet, and he has been out of journalism ever since.
