GOLF NOTES.

A meeting of the committee of the Talhape Golf Club was held last night in Mr. Wakeman's office, there being present: Messrs D. Neagle (chair). S. Beban, H. Hesketh, J. Champion, Tv. J. Munro, W. Kelsall, A. M. Ryan, G. Bray, and P. E. Wakeman (hon. secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr. J. Evans on account of illness.

The Bank B'ook showed that for the first time in the history of the club, the bank balance was on the credit side.

A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. P. E. Wakeman, hon. secretary and treasurer, congratulating him on the position of the club's finances, was carried with acclamation. A donation of £1 8s was received from Mr. Hesketh towards the prize funds and a vote of thanks was accorded to that gentleman, not only for his "donation, but also for labour gratuitously given to the benefit of the club.

Mr. C. O. Gibbs was elected a mem ber of the club,

It was decided that the Shergold Plate be a challenge trophy for junior players in the same manner that the Shergold Cup was competed for in the senior competitions. Mr. A. M. Ryan announced that he would donate a gold medal to the winner of the Shergold Cup, and his generous offer was received with acclamation.

It was decided that the Bray trophy competition on 26th July and the electric competition on 2nd August be counted as qualifying rounds for the championships and that the 16 players who handed in the best cards be eligible to compete in the championships.

Mr. S. Shergold, senior, was elected a life member of the Taihape Golf Club and it was decided that the secretary write to Mr. Shergold and convey to him the club's thanks for his generous donations to the club's prize funds, and at the same time thank him for his uniform courtesy and consideration of all matters appertaining to the welfare of the club and its members. Carried with acclamation and enthusiasm. A vote of thanks to the chair and thanks to Mr. Wakeman for the use of his office terminated the meeting.
