RETURNING DELEGATES.
BRITAIN'S SAFE FINANCE. (Office of origin censored.) Sir Joseph Ward, during the course of a speech made on his return journey to New Zealand, said that it was of first importance that Samoa should remain British territory. B'ritain ! could easily finance the war for another five years, but the accession of the United States increased that period. Sir Joseph Ward anticipated con*, siderable immigration to New Zealand as the result of the demobilisation. A notable change in Britain, was the disappearance of class bitterness and the reduction of drunkenness. Mr. Massey, in an interview, said that he believed that conscription would pass at the next referendum in Australia. Regarding Empire consolidation, he bdjftved that it was better to found this upon sentimental lines than a too rigid organisation, savouring of Germanism. In future New Zealand, Canada, Australia and Africa would not be overlooked in anything concerning their common interests.
