Next Sunday 3rd June, is the King’s Birthday. On the occasion a military church parade is to be held in Taihape. The question of a ba'nd presents some difficulties, but this can be overcome if all old players, who have renounced brass instrument playing during the last one to thirty years will be so patriotic as to fill the vacancies in the local municipal hand caused by members going to the front. Every man in this community that is able to play a brass instrument and is willing to give half an hour on next Sunday morning in heading the parade from the Town Hall to the church, is asked to kindly communicate by telephone or otherwise with Sergt-Major Forrest, at the Taihape Defence Office. None need be shy of offering their services, as at least one has been approached who hasn’t, blown a brass instrument for the last 30 years. It is hoped that everyone who can will be good enough to assist.
