TARANAKI’S PRODUCTIVITY “A RECORD FOR THE WORLD.” The wonderful productivity of Taranaki province was reflected in a review of the season given by Mr. R. Dunn, president of the Taranaki Provincial Farmers’ Union. After discussing the bad season and its effects, he went on to say that, notwithstanding the drawback, the farmers of Taranaki had much to be grateful for. Taranaki had in the previous year put up a record which will take a lot of beating, ho exports from three ports worked out as follows: New Plymouth] £1,225,943; Waitara, £540,197; patea, £1,205,287. Taranaki’s population is 56,587, so its exports on that basis were equal to a little over £55. per head. These figures did not take into account cattle, sheep, hides and ! wool sent by rail to Wellington, ow- * ing to shiping troubles. These ex- j ports, he said, were probably a record f for the world.
