AUSTRALIAN WHEAT FOE NEW ZEALAND. MELBOURNE, May 16. The Hon. MacDonald’s mission to buy wheat to meet the Now Zealand shortage was successful. Mr. Hughes announced that one and a-half million bushels had been bought, with the option of a further million bushels, at 5s Cd net, f.o.b. The New Zealand Government undertakes to provide shipping and pay for the wheat whether delivered by the end of August or not.

ADELAIDE, May 16
The Government Statistician’s preliminary estimate of the wheat yield is that it will total 43,8.10, 072 bushels, 9,696,468 above the record of 1915-16,
the average being 15.85 bushels to the acre. The estimate of the oats crop is 1,825,503 bushels, 308,871 below the previous year.
