NATIONALIST VICTORY. STILL MORE PRONOUNCED. SENATE SECURE IN FIVE SEATS. AUSTRALIA'S REHABILITATION. SYDNEY, May 9. Later figures continue to strengthen the Nationalist position, both'as regards the Senate and the House. As far as New South Wales, Victoria, Westrtilia, South Australia, and Tasmania are concerned, the Senate leads are such as to make Nationalist victories practically sure, though the counts are far from complete, including a very big untouched absentee vote. The Federal House seats, previously doubtful, now appear to be going to the Nationalists. The Political Labour League leaders express great surprise at the re* suit, and attribute it to the plenitude of funds which the National party commanded. The reply to this is that the Liberal party always had more funds than Labour, yet the latter was previously able to win the elections. The newspapers claim Saturday's vote, and not the conscription referendum, was the Commonwealth's true expression of opinion on the war, and that it has rehabilitated Australia in the eyes of the Empire.
