The morning papers claim that th« whole vote is a great Nationalist victory. The “Herald” says that it shows conclusively that the people have fully made up their minds on four material points—firstly, that they will see the war through to the bitted end; secondly that they refuse to be bluffed over the conscription issue; thirdly, that they object to caucus rule; and, fourthly, that they oppose imported doctrines of the I.W.W.
ARCHBISHOP CARR BEAD

The death is announced of Dr. Carr, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne.
.Dr. T. ,1. Carr, D.D., was born in Galway, 77 years ago. After a distinguished ecclesiastical education he was ordained priest in 1866, and rapidly rose, through his brilliant attainments, till he was consecrated bishop of Galway on August 26, 1883. He occupied the see for three years, when he was appointed successor to the late Archbishop Goold, of Melbourne. He wrote a number of theological works. On the occasion of the celebration of his silver jubilee in 1911 the Pope appointed him assistant, to the Pontifical Throne.
