PATRIOTIC FUNDS

RED CROSS NOTES. The annual meeting which is to be held next Friday evening in the supper room of the Town Hall should be attended by every worker and sympathiser in Red Cross doings. Every parent with sens at the front, and more particularly every parent who has escaped that sacrifice should be there. If it'has not been all you like or wish in the past, come and alter it. Give it new life and energy by your service and sacrifice. Grumbling in the streets or in your neighbour ’s ear doesn’t help any. A new scheme has been suggested in regard to the Shop by several ! friends in town and country. The scheme is that several of the country districts should take the shop on a fixed day every month. Mataroa starts the ball rolling on Wednesday, May 9, and Koeka is to be asked to follow later. If Utiku, Taoroa, Pukeokahu, Moawhango, Wainui, Turangarere and Bennett’s Siding take the scheme up every Wednesday and Saturday will be booked. Ruanui has already helped in this way many times.
