PORT ON DANUBE BOMBED. Received 11.10. LONDON, April 29. A Berlin official states that seaplanes on the 2Gth April, bombed Port Sulina on the Danube, by which serious fires were started in the harbours among the lighters. The aeroplanes returned safely despite violent anti-aircraft fire.
STRIKES IN SWEDEN. BIG DEMONSTRATIONS IN STOCKHOLM. STOCKHOLM, April 2S. The police dispersed 10,000 women who were parading the streets demanding cheaper food. The police also dispersed naval and •military food demonstrations. The participators accepted the admiral's auvicc and returned to their ships and barracks.
IMPERIAL CONFERENCE IMPERIAL PREFERENCE. BRITISH CABINET'S FAEJf-REACH-ING DECISION. LONDON, April 28. Newspapers generally welcome the announcement that Cabinet -lias adopted Imperial preference. The Morning Post regrets that the decision does not include foodstuffs.
The Daily Mail says the change has been long ardently desired. The fateful decision has been now made.
Th e Daily News says Mr. Lloyd George is not likely to be more succussful in avoiding food taxes in connection with Colonial preference than Mr. Chamberlain was.
The Daily Chronicle regrets what it terms a highly contentious question after war. Any alteration in our fiscal policy would be unfair to our allies. The Daily Telegraph says the Government's decision will be welcomed far and wide throughout the Empire.
STATE SUBSIDIES TO STEAM-
SHIPS LONDON, April 28. There was no meeting of the Imperial Conference to-day. City circles anticipate that on e result of the preference decision will probably be State subsidies to steamship lines to assist in development of Empire resources.
MR. HUGHES' OPINION

Mr. Hughes, commenting on the Imperial Conference's preference decision, said Imperial Preference had been part of Australia's policy for years. Presumably the Conference's decision meant that Britain intended to giv e preference to Australia.
