MILITARY APPEAL BOARD.

TAIHAPE SITTING. The first Military Service Board commenced its Taihape sitting in the Courthouse this morning. There were a number of appeals to be heard, and the Board may be congratulated upon the expedition with which they were dealt with. '

Henry Lloyd Brown, sheep-farmer, Mangoihi: hearing adjourned till next sitting.

Maurice Shechy, blacksmith, Kactihi, appeal allowed. Mathew Car, farmer, Ohakunc, was ordered to go into camp on the 27th. May. ,

John Patrick Carr, farmer and shearer: appeal adjourned sine die. George Parker, farm labourer, Ore Ore; appeal alloAvcd, he not being a reservist when balloted for.

Michael McHair, farmer, Raetihi: adjaurned till 31st July'. Morris Alexander Walker, farm hand, Raetihi: appeal dismissed; to go into camp on 27th May.

Henry Richard Pike, sheep-farmer, Raetihi, stated he had two brothers working with him till they went into camp; he was at present working the farm alone. The hearing was adjourned till the next sitting of the Board at Taihape.

Thomas Archibald Felton, 'railway porter, Waimarino, appealed on religious grounds. The appeal was dismissed as the appellant had only joined the Brethren in November, 1915.

John Sheely, farmer, Taumanmui, asked for two months in which to arrange his affairs. He stated that he would be ready to go into camp oO 24th June, and an order was made accordingly. Harold James Galloway, settler, Raurimu; this appeal had been adjourned from 24th March. The appellant stated he had to let and to sell his land, but had not succeeded. He was-.ordered to go into camp on 24th June. J. Clark, farmer, Tokirima, did not appear, and his appeal was dismissed

Chas Gordon Terry, farmer, Otangiwai, stated he had two brothers at the front and one in camp, another brother was unfit for military service. Decision was reserved, leave granted meanwhile.

Percy Bond, farmer, Kihi Kihi: this appeal was adjourned till next sitting to enable evidence of Appellant’s father being taken. Mark Smith, of Matiere, did not appear, and. his appeal was adjourned.
