THREE STARS. Even to the most uninitiated, the difficulties attending the taking of moving pictures at night are readily understood. For, with the most improved lighting effects, it has been found well-night imposible to off-set the shadowy effects, which invariably destroy the picture sought. In the "Half Breed," there are several pictures taken outside a small mountain inn at night, and so sharp are they in detail that not only are the characters as distinguishable as though photographed in broad daylight, but the action, often exceedingly rapid in motion, is followed easily. The exact methods pursued in securing the effects are of course guarded jealously by those who devised them. Triangle camera men are still experimenting along the lines follwoed in "The Half Breed." To-morrow night, "MSJcTsta, the Giant," who appeared in -"Cabiria" will be screened.
