IT3 EFFECT. TELEGRAM TO THE MINISTER. In connection with the curtailment of the railway serivee by the Railway Department in another column. Mr. M. M. Carpenter, Manager of the Rangitikei Co-operative Sawmillers' Association, has tliis afternoon despatched the following telegram to the Minister of Raihvays: —"Your announcement to discontinue loading building materia! is viewed with alarm by the whole sawmilling industry, and, if emied 'out, will completely disorganize tlu.- trade and seriously injure thousands iliac are dependent upon it. 'Jrgent and important contracts are now in haul for essential works. We trust thcr>iore yorr Government will find a better and more acceptable way of caping with the contemptible and cowardly stand taken up by the coalminers. You may rely upon the whole-hearted co-operation of sawmillers.
