AMUSEMENTS

THREE STARS.

As time goes on the quest for new and original themes and settings in the art of film production is becoming increasingly difficult, and expensive. In this respect the Triangle Company may fairly be said to have scored heavily over its rivals when it produced “The Jungle Child,” a powerful dramatic story which will be the leading feature at the Three Stars tonight. The opening scenes are laid in the forest wilds of South America, the natural environment of an Indian village, the wild animals that dwell in the dense jungle of the tropical belt jaguars, monkeys and crocodiles ,ol the steaming swamp rivers, are depicted in their native haunts, and in the centre of the picture is the heroine of the story, a beautiful creature ol the wild, untamed, and, as yet, un loved. She is a Spanish girl, who, as an \ifant was adopted by an Indian tribe. Into her life comes an Amert can explorer, who has lost his way and is rescued and nursed back tc health' by the girl.’’ Incidentally h( discovers that she is a lost heiress and being Thoroughly unscrupulous gainh her affections and tfbrguades hei to return to civilisation with him. Toe

late she discovers his real character and perceives he despises her for hei primitive instincts... The climax, develops is dramatic and te’rribl- '

her jungle room, fitted up to jgmnn her of her youthful days, she a weird death dance,a sneering gibi from her husband,, snaps somethin! within her brain and she whirls upm him with her dagger, and the finale 1) tragic and grimly elemental.
