EASTERN FRONT.
TRENCHES LOST AND RE-CAP-TURED. Received 11 a.m. LONDON, April 11. A Russian official message states: The enemy occupied our front trenches north of Rojdschi, but were driven ;out. An enemy entrance was also made in our trenches in the region of Terechkovez, in the direction of Sckal, but they were compelled to retire after bayonetting our wounded. A stubborn battle is proceeding with the Turks in the region of Rachta, southward of Uchovne.
RUSSIA AND SCANDINAVIA. CORDIAL RELATIONS DESIRED. Received 9.20. CHRISTIANIA, April 11. M. Maliukoff, in an interview with Aftenpost, says Russia's rela\tions with Scandinavia will be most cordial. There is no fear of a Russian attempt to take Swedish or Norwegian northern harbours. Russia’s way to the sea was through the Dardanelles. A passage to Constantinople was a necessary condition of Russia’s life.
BETTER NEWS FROM THE STOKHOD.
PETROGRAD, April 11
It is semi-officially announced that information has been received by the War Office to the effect that development cn the btokhed justify the hone that Germany’s advance will be checked. The breach in the Russian front linh has been repaired. Many troops whicß were supposed to be lost have rejoined th e colours. The reverse is attributed to agitators. The first attacks were not repulsed because the troops were engaged electing committees.
WONDERFUL UNITY AND HOPEFULNESS.

The editor of the “Bourse Gazette,” in a special message to London newspapers, sums up the existing condition of affairs in Russia. The union,of the Government and Army, which includes high commands as well as officers and men, gaining strength daily. The army is prepared to support the Government against any danger from whatever source. The idea of constitutional monarchy is discredited among the masses of the people. All classes desire a democratic republic, and vast social reforms, especially agrarian. There is perfect order throughout the country. The Government has decided to requisition food supplies, and is introducing State monarchy over corn. Success is assured of the forthcoming liberty loan. Orthodox and Catholic clergy support the loan. A DANGEROUS MOVEMENT. PETROGRAD, April 11. The internal crisis is assuming an acute form. The Committee of Labour Deputies has officially notified the formation of a committee on foreign relations to open direct peace negotiations with the enemy. For this purpose a deputation is going to Stockholm. The committee demands that (their representatives be given a voice in directing operations at the front. The committee of soldiers’ deputies publishes what it terms the “fundamental programme,” declaring that “while not repudiating active defence, we demand immediate uriTted peace negotiations among all belligerents, and propaganda among the masses with a view to terminating the war. Veh benefits only the bourgeoiserie.
