AMUSEMENTS.
THREE STABS. What is considered the greatest and, grandest spectacular war picture that has come to the Dominion is '' The Battle Cry of Peace." The picture will be shown at the Matinee on Saturday. Orchestral music will accompany the picture over the screen. "The Battle Cry of Peace" has for its mission the arousing of a "great nation to a sense of her preparedness, by showing what would happen in the event of a German invasion of America. Can you imagine New York bß|barded by shot and shell, from land.nsea, and ain, Broadway blazing with incendiary bombs, The Times-—square and of Liberty mere tumbling ruins, battened out of recognition by the Huns? It is but one of the possibilities of which, this tense, wonderful drama treats. And in doing so it shows it all —the occupation of New York by the Germans, the big Naval Battle of Sandy Hook,, in which the whole of the North Atlantic Fleet participates, and which in filming involve the actual sinking of a cruiser and two destroyers., They go down right before your eyes, victim of the big 15-in. guns of the shore batteries. You have been shocked beyond expression by the stories of German barbarities in Belgium. You have shuddered at the tales of fiendish inhumanity, the pillage of towns, the sacrilege, the rapin e that followed in the German wake, and . they were not big towns* Can you imagine l , then, what would happen if the Huns gained mastery oves New York in the same way It is a thing that is frightful to contemplate,,, and yet the "Battle Cry of Peace," ig, thundering out its message for prepanedness.
EVERYBODY'S. The initial screening of the new programme at Everybody's last night, wag witnessed by a large number of peQjjfle, Interest centred in the Blue-Bird production '' The Gilded Spider,'' in which; several situations of a striking character were presented. The story is of" intense human interest, involving a strange problem, the solution of which is worked out in a most interesting and. impressive manner. It is a drama of unusual power and the acting is exceptionally fine. The capable and popular young actress Miss Louise Lovely; appears in the leading role, and she has with her an impressive cast of well* known players. Otner interesting items' on the programme include the fifteenth: episode of the fascinating "Broken: Coin" serial a Keystone Comedy, and a splendid scenic showing "A Visit to the Khamas Country." To-morrow (Saturday), the management will present one of the strongest programmes ever presented to a picture audience. There will be two distinctly big attractions. One of them is a Lasky production entitled "The Secret Sin." in which that charming actress Blance Sweet takes the leading part. The other big feature is the meritorious "Metro" masterpiece "The Come Back," a vital drama, brimming with, thrills and romance, portraying the throbbing story of the regeneration of a society idler in the &r eat "WS ed north woods and the big Come Back" will be shown for |ne? night, only; it will also be shown!afe the matinee. | J
