“ ' A ZEPPELIN DESTROYED. LONDON, March 17. A French communique:—At 5.30 this morning, Zeppelin L 39, which had flown over the region of Paris, was hit at a height of , 3500 metres above : Gomjeigne, by our anti-aircraft. All ; the crew perished. Neither the fall of the airship nor the explosion of her bombs did any damage. Three Zeppelins participated in tne raid. They crossed our lines under cover of darkness. Aeroplanes drove them off and anti-aircraft guns picked ; them up over Compeigne, where they i dropped bombs, which, however, did i insignificant damage. CHINA AND GERMANY.; PEKIN, March 17. The Government, in a dignified Note / to the German Legation, pointed out that the German reply was complete- ‘ ly unsatisfactory. Passports for the ; Ministry and Legations staffs accom- I panied the Note. ji 5 Naval forces seized German ships at Shanghai. The suspension of all Germans employed in the Customs, Post Office, railways, and other Government offices, has been ordered. PEKIN, March 18. Holland has, taken charge of Ger- I many’s interests in China. Dutch, soldiers disarmed the Legation Guards. Denmark represents China in Germany.
