A LIGHT AND A FOOTPATH.
At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, Cr. Joblin said he had been approached by residents on Birch’s Road to request the Council to put a light opposite the Presbyterian Manse, ( and also to construct a footpath to the same place. He said the light was very badly needed, as the bend in the road prevented anyone seeing for a distance in front of them. The footpath wasalso an urgent necessity. Cr. Wvightson considered the light was needed, but: the installation required consideration, as it was outride the lighting area. -i The Mayor said the light asked for was outside the lighting area. The question in granting this application, was where to stop. Is it this one, and stop, or is - everyone to get lights forthe asking? Cr. Wrightson said all those outside the area had to pay for the Eventually it was decided to install the light. The question of the footpath, was referred to the Borough foreman to report as to cost, etc.
