BRITAIN WANTS MORE LABOUR. Received 9.25. MELBOURNE, this day. , I Mr. Pearce announced that he re- | ceived a message stating further labour supplies were urgently required by the Imperial authorities. The Government had decided to send additional navvies and labourers to Britain. MALTESE IMMIGRANTS. SYDNEY, March 11. The 170 Maltese immigrants, who i were previously prohibited from land- ! ing, were sent to Noumea, returned, were interned on a hulk in the haibour for several weeks and have now been permitted to land and employment found for them. SYDNEY, March 11. The Appeal Court reduced the sentences on Glynn and McPherson (in the I.W.W. case) from fifteen to ten years. Other sentences were undisturbed. MELBOURNE, March 11. At the thoroughbred sales the stallion Bobadil fetched 3300 guineas. The Federal Government is considering the advisability of prohibiting* the importation of American apples, to prevent a glut, owing to British restrictions.
