NEW ZEALAND MEAT

AND THE AMERICAN TRUST LONDON, FFebnuuy 20 In the House of Commons to-day Mr Stanton asked Mr Walter Long, Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether he had seen the report of the Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company pointing out the efforts of the Chicago beef monopoly to corner New Zealand s moat output, whether his attention had been called to the secret operations of the meat trust in New Zealand, and whether, seeing that irritation and suspicion existed in New Zealand regarding what companies are under American control, he will immediately confer with Mr Massey regarding the steps necessary to keep this source of Britain’s food supply free from foreign influence. Mr Long replied—My attention has been drawn to the matter, and I am in communication with Mr Massey with a view to considering what action can be taken in the matter.
