“YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE.” Two Canadian soldiers ~ treated a Folkestone restaurant keeper named Harxis to an up-to-date “Wild West," turn. After finishing supper the men walked up to the counter behind which Karris was standing, and in blood-curdling, melodramatic tones, one of them, pointing a revolver at his head, exclaimed: “Put up your hands or I’ll blow your brains out!” Harris held up his hands, and while he remained in that position, covered by the revolver, the second soldier went through the till and took a sum of money. Both men then retreated backwards out of the restaurant, the revolver being still pointed at Harris. One of the two men, Private William Gibson, was later remanded on a charge of stealing, in order to give the police an opportunity of arresting his accomplice. “To be safe, never reel sure.” —Old Proverb.
