QUEENSLAND POLITICS. BRISBANE, Jan. 31. In the State Assembly the Leader of the Opposition gave notice of a noconfidence motion on the ground of the Government's incapacity to conduct public business.

NEW GUINEA FOE, SOLDIERS

MELBOURNE. Jan. 30

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr S. A. Whiteinan,. of Rabaul, suggests that returned soldiers, especially disabled men. might be profitably placed as small planters on New Guinea and neighbouring islands. It would be necessary to subsidise them for six years until the cocoanuts were bearing. Then they could be left to enjoy life.
