AMUSEMENTS.
EVERYBODY’S.
Superbly staged and finely acted, “The House of Tears, ’ ’ a new Metro picture screened at the Town Hall will be talked about everywhere on account of the splendid examples of double exposure photography which it contains. Emily Stevens plays the dual character of the mother and daughter in “The House of Tears,” and f la',d|dgencie.s of the plot repeatedly demand' ner presence in both roles at the same time. She has several big scenes with herself, and on one occasion apparently throws her arms, round the mother’s nock. Of course, she doesn’t really do anything of the kind, but such is the cleverness with which the scenes is stage-managed that the temporary substitution of another woman as the mother passes unnoticed,, and it is not until afterwards that one realises how the thing must have been done. The fifth episode of “The Broken Coin” will also be shown.
