ON THE WESTERN FRONT.
DECIDED SUCCESS NORTH OF THE ANCRE. LONDON, Jan. IS. Sir Douglas Haig rqports: This morning, after a heavy bombardment, we occupied a line of posts north of Beaucourt sur Ancre. The whole of our objective was gained on a front of GOO yards. We suffered few casualties. Our observation in this area has been considerably improved. Our artillery barrage during the afternoon broke up a counter-attack with heavy losses.
