BRITISH WAR LOAN.
LONDON, Jan 16. The City Corporation has decided to subscribe £2,000,000 of "new" money to the loan, the Refuge Assurance Company subscribes £2,125,000, and the Liveruool and Victoria Legal and Friendly £1,000,000. Many who are holding policies in the United States Life Assurance offices are borrowing upon the surrender value at five per cent, in terest and investing it in the War Loan.
