HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s market report, dated London, January 10, is .as follows (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Meat—All description of frozen meat is in active demand owing to short supplies. Prices are higher for frozen meat not under Government control. New Zealand mutton, per lb, sgd; ewe mutton, 8d; Argentine mutton, heavy weight S 7-Bd, light weight 9Jd; New Zealand, Australian, and Argentine lamb, 91d; New Zealand cow beef, hinds, Bd, fores 7d; Argenj tine chilled beef, hinds IOJd, fores S2d. Butter. —The market has a downward tendency, and prices are easier. Danish, per cwt 218/ to 220/; Australian salted 19/ to 202/, unsalted 195/ to 201/. The New Zealand market has a weaker tone since last report. Salted 204/ to 203/, uusalted 208/. Dutch, 204/ to 208/. Argentine, salted 198/, unsalted 200/ to 204 A American creamery, 192/. Cheese.—The market continues firm Canadian, white and coloured, per cwt 138/ to 140/; English Cheddar 144/ to 146/; United States, flats, 136/ to 138/ New Zealand (mutilated word here). Hemp.—The market is dull, and prices are irregular. Quotations are nominal. Good fair New Zealand hemp per ton, £6O; fair, £SB; Gov-ernment-graded fair manila, £62; ments of good fair New Zealand, £59; fair, £57; Government graded fair manila £6O; coarse £SB. t. Wheat. —Offerings are very small. Can get no reliable information concerning business done. The nominal value of Australian afloat is 82/. Oats. —The market is quiet, with a general feeling of uneasiness on account of doubts concerning Government action with regard to grain. New Zealand one spot, 50/, ~ . .
