Mr Ward Price, writing from Salonika, answers the question, “What are we doing at Salonika?” Ho says the ■object was to first cut the Bcrlin-Bagh-dad railway, and sever connection between Germany and her eastern allies; also to refashion the Balkans, and to thwart the Germans’ schemes. If the Germans had reached Salonika they would have byilt on the Mediterranean another Kiel. Egypt would have been threatened by a fleet as strong as that ■n the‘North Sea. By re-establishing Serbia we fulfil our duty to our allj', and build a Slav dam across the tideway of German ambitions.
