Thursday, January 18.—Children's plain and fancy dress ball, Town Hall, Taihape, 7.30 p.m. Adult dance at 10.30 p.m. Rosebud May Denness. Thursday, January 18.—Picnic Utiku, 1 p.m. Dance Utiku Hall same evening. Utiku Rosebud.

Practice and tuition for children taking part in the children " s plain and fancy dress ball will take place in O'Connor's Hall on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at. 2 p.m. Several ladies who had experience in the last children's fancy dress ball have kindly offered their services as Instructors. This will be a unique opportunity for the children to assist the Soldiers' Comforts Fund., and it is hoped that every child in the town and district will be present. Dancing will terminate at 10 p.m. for. children. The nominal charge of one shilling for children, ladies and gallery will be made. As the children have had no picnic this year, it will be an opportunity for the parents to give the little ones a night's outing at smaller expense.

The second of the series of euchre parties and dance in aid of the railway roebud will take place to-night.'Sit last week's function the excellence of the music and floor were freely commented upon, and those present had a most enjoyable time. Messrs Collings and Roberts will again provide the music, and Mr W. Watson will act as M. C. A nominal charge of 1/- for ladies and gentlemen will be made. One of the popular Bennett's Siding dances will be held next. Wednesday iu aid of the Mataroa rosebud. The charge for gents will be 2/- and ladies 1/-. These functions in the past have been most enjoyable and pleasant, and it is expected that a Targe number of Taihape residents will make the journey next Wednesday in search of pleasure.
