KISSES AND CUDDLES
ATTRACTIONS AT A BARBER'S ESTABLISHMENT. Cups of tea and cigarettes., with intervals of kissing and cuddling, were among the attractions said to be dispensed at a lady barber's establishment in Macdonald's Lane, off Corporation Street, Manchester (England), managed by Amy Morison, better known to the patrons as "Amy." It is stated that she had two attractive assistants, "Mabel," and "Lily," who called Police constables Dawson and M'Turk (in civilian garb) "dear" and "love," on the occasion of their visits. The sequel to those visits was heard at the Manchester City Police Court when a fine of £lO was imposed on Amy Morison for being concerned in the management of a disorderly house.
The premises comprised a cafe, shaving saloon, and manicure cubicles. The two constables had cigarettes and coffee with the girls, who called them "dear" and "love," and impropriety Avas also alleged to have taken place in the cubicles, which were screened off by curtains. Amy was seen kissing and cuddling a man in the cafe, and eventually they started playing "clap-hands" to g'ether. I (Laughter).
P. C. Dawson, in answer to Mr. Lustgarten (who defended), denied that he asked the girl to kiss him, or that he went into the cubicle without being asked.
Mr. Lustgarten, for the defence, said the very intensity of what was alleged seemed io show that the evidence against, the defendant must of necessity he exaggerated. At every stage someone was being kissed or kissing, and it mad one doubt whether a human being could stand the amount of kissing that was alleged against these young women. Defendant and her assistants indignantly denied that, impropriety had taken place.
